Our buildings are designed to be low energy in both construction and in use and the issues of embodied energy and life cycle costing are considered at the early design stage. The specification of materials is carefully considered taking into account health and toxicity matters beyond current guidelines. Energy monitoring (pressure testing and thermal imaging) of our buildings has enabled a comprehensive picture to be built up about whether the hoped for performance is achieved in the completed building. Construction detailing for long life with low maintenance is a major determinant in the approach. This overall strategy has been a major factor in our appointment for our most recent projects.
