Most of the beams we import are air-dried for 1-3 years making them suitable for a number of interior projects. Cracks, splits and knots of some of the distinguishing features that can be present in air-dried oak.
Sawn oak beams have a dark and weathered appearance that can vary depending on where the beam is positioned in the pack.
Planed beams, however, are far lighter in colour as the weathered surface is removed. The planed surface practically finishes ready and may only need light hand sand.
