I left school in 1999 and was lucky enough to know what I wanted to do with my life. I enrolled at Thomas Danby College in Leeds and gained an NVQ level 2 in Childcare and Education. Following the succesful completion of this course, I got my first Nursery Nursing Job working with a little boy who had very complex additional needs on a one to one basis. I found this role unbelievably rewarding and it led me to getting a full time job working for an organisation called ToyBox based in the same nursery. I had made it and was officially a Nursery Nurse. In 2001 I moved to Two Willows Children’s Centre which is where I have spent most of my working life. During my time at Two Willows I have completed a variety of training courses including Child Protection level 2, Healthy Exercise Nutrition for the Really Young (HENRY), Movement Training, Speech and Language (to name but a few), giving me a well rounded set of skills in relation to caring for children of all ages. The next step for me was to begin my own family. I loved my incredibly rewarding job as a nursery nurse and was eager to continue working with children whilst being able to care for my own. Childminding was the perfect option for me marrying both my practical skills and my passion for providing reliable and professional childcare.
