Experienced in treating musculoskeletal problems Elizabeth particularly enjoys working with patients to help identify changes they can make themselves to prevent recurring injury or avoid chronic pain. Having practised Pilates for many years she went on to train with ‘Pilates Solutions’ and incorporates this approach into rehabilitation exercises. Elizabeth has also studied modern acupuncture and has found this to be a helpful addition to treatment in some cases. She is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy. The daily stresses and strains of life can have a profound effect on the body. How we cope with these is different for all of us and we need to work with the patient to identify what approach will work for them. Using hands-on treatment osteopaths help release tension and improve mobility to allow the musculoskeletal system to work more effectively and aid recovery. Hands-on treatment alone is rarely enough. To aid recovery effective exercises to stretch and strengthen muscles and joints are given and postural awareness is encouraged. This, combined with treatment helps to reduce the stress on the musculoskeletal system. Some cases can be quite straightforward but others can be more complex and require more help. We refer patients to GP’s or other healthcare professionals if necessary.
