Eileen began her Acupuncture studies in 2006 after developing a deep interest how best to help the body heal itself. She is what might be called a “sporty person” and, as such, had the usual run of sports related injuries over the years. Through personal experience she became interested in how an injury or imbalance in one part of the body can create pain, tightness or pulled muscles in another area. An interest in and understanding of anatomy evolved from a desire to understand her own issues and how best to treat them. “My first encounter with acupuncture was when my mum had some very successful treatment for Bell’s Palsy. Later I discovered that a friend relied on acupuncture to help with the pains of endometriosis.” These encounters were the catalyst to Eileen seeking treatment herself for some musculoskeletal issues and some gynaecological issues and shortly afterwards she decided to begin her studies at The Northern College of Acupuncture in York. With a definite Western slant to her scientific understanding, she may have begun her studies of Traditional Chinese Medicine a little sceptically. This scepticism was soon dissipated as she saw how Eastern wisdom and medicine has a more holistic and preventative view of health and wellbeing.
