Emanuel Brown established Brown's Nursery back in 1806. Over the period of the last 200 years the business has seen eight generations of the family as well as the addition of an 'e' onto the end of the surname. Brownes may well happen to be the longest surviving family run enterprise in Wells. The pictures below are of William James Browne and his wife Delia Alice Browne whilst at work at the garden centre in the 1940s.
