The implant is made from titanium and is placed in the jaw where it bonds to act like a natural tooth root on which, a tooth coloured crown is secured. Once bonded, the implant looks and feels like a natural tooth.
We have a number of dentists who are highly experienced in dental implant treatment. They have furthered their studies to ensure they provide the very best treatment options. We support our dentists with the latest in modern technology and materials to ensure the very best clinical result for our patients.
If you have multiple missing teeth, dental implants can be used to secure bridges or dentures.
This treatment is similar to a conventional bridge but instead of attaching the bridge to existing teeth, they are attached to the implant. This means they are much stronger and more reliable, enabling you to forget about your teeth and enjoy eating, talking, laughing and smiling as you did before.
Fixed braces are made up of bands and brackets which are placed onto each tooth. They are fixed in place by dentists and are adjusted at appointments over a period of time. The length of treatment differs per patient but on average it can take between 18 months to 2 years to complete.
Overcrowded teeth occur when there is simply a lack of room within your jaw for all of your teeth to fit normally. When left untreated, overly crowded teeth can cause an increased chance of gum disease and dental decay as your teeth are harder to clean and can prevent the normal function of teeth.
Widely spaced teeth occur when you have extra space within your jaw.
Crossbites occur when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned. This issue can cause premature wear of the teeth, gum disease and bone loss.
Overbites occur when the upper teeth overlap significantly with the lower teeth. This issue can lead to gum problems or irritation, and/or wear on the lower teeth and can cause painful jaw and joint problems.
Underbites occur when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth, usually caused by undergrowth of the upper jaw, overgrowth of the lower jaw, or both. It can also be caused by missing upper teeth. This issue can prevent the normal function of front teeth or molars which can lead to tooth wear. It can also cause painful jaw and joint problems.
A crown is a restoration that fits over the remaining part of a damaged tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. A crown is sometimes known as a ‘cap’.
We will always try to match the crown to your natural teeth. Crowns required for a clinical reason can be performed on NHS dental treatment plans.
If you wish to replace old crowns for aesthetic reasons, we can do this for you on a private treatment basis.
