My training was based on 'BKS Iyengar' (a dynamic, strong, alignment based yoga, using the supports of props to enable many to achieve postures). More recently I have undertaken teacher training's in Movement Mapping developed by Justin Wolfer which incorporates gentle Vinyasa, Functional Range conditioning, and flowing sequences to strengthen the body. Post training I've undertaken teacher immersion courses in 'Scaravelli Yoga' developed by Vanda Scaravelli - a more gentle method using the breath and gravity to lengthen the spine and to free tension. Working in a way of exploration and finding yourself in the posture without force. You look to allow the natural intelligence of the body to take over rather than impose on the body. I have trained with Catherine Annis, Gary Carter and Peter Blackaby who are inspired by the Scaravelli Method. "Do not kill the instinct of the body for the glory of the pose. Do not look at your body like a stranger, but adopt a friendly approach towards it. Watch it, listen to it, observe its needs, its requests and even have fun.
