Walcot Upholstery was established in 1973 by Tony Hook, who was joined by his son Gary in 1978. Together they ran a successful business mainly concentrating on the re-upholstery of commissioned pieces. The original founder Tony, retired in 2000 and in the same year Simon Watson joined as a partner. Gary and Simon decided to develop the business further by offering re-upholstered period pieces for sale, whilst continuing with commissioned work. This has proven to be extremely popular and as a consequence, in May 2004, a showroom was opened just a short walk from the original workshop. More recently, to meet increased demand, four full-time, experienced upholsters have joined the team, along with office staff to ensure the smooth-running of the business.
