I first became interested in Chinese medicine through tai chi. I wanted to understand how the system worked, how something so seemingly simple as the principles of yin and yang and the five elements could describe something as complex as the human body. It takes time and study to understand the Chinese system, but the rewards are worth the effort. It is empowering to learn how your body works and how everything you do has an impact. Applied intelligently, it points towards peace and balance. I have a degree in acupuncture, and am a member of the British Acupuncture Council. My degree entailed studying both Chinese and Western medicine. I still study different aspects of medicine to further my understanding.
