It was started and is run by two sets of working parents who had struggled to find appropriate provision for their own young adults with disabilities. The building is light, spacious and airy with three large classrooms, each accommodating up to eight students. There is space for group sessions, individual work stations, ICT work stations, relaxation areas and ‘safe spaces’ where students are encouraged to self-manage their anxieties. There are wet rooms for personal care, a large garden with picnic benches and sporting facilities, a sensory cabin, an additional cabin and a domestic kitchen and laundry where students can develop their independence skills.
