Under our guidance the site was refurbished to provide commercial and industrial facilities for businesses and new accommodation for Social Services. One of the most prominent stone mills was converted into the White Cross Education Centre, housing the Adult College, Art College and District Education Office, and for which we received a coveted RIBA Regional Award. Since completing White Cross the Practice, under the present partnership of Nigel Atkinson and Robert Partington has involved itself in projects throughout the North West region. We have also completed a series of projects for Lancaster Girls' Grammar School. The new Technology Building which provided much needed facilities for teaching design and technology in a bright modern building was followed by a new entrance building incorporating a welcoming reception area, senior staff offices and classrooms. Later we helped to add a drama studio, sixth form common room, music practice rooms, even more classrooms and most recently the Centenary Hall. All have been carefully planned to enhance the quality of the School's facilities whilst harmonising with existing listed buildings within the City's Conservation Area.
