Dine in the Linen Fold Panelled Restaurant. Enjoy the ambience of the large restaurant, the cosiness of the Dr Syn dining room or the privacy of the Boardroom for your evening meal, lunch and breakfast. We stayed at the Mermaid Inn for two nights (8th — 9th July 2019). We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff were at all times friendly, helpful and professional. Our room was kept very clean. The hotel itself is ancient and it was an absolute privilege to stay in such a historic and beautiful old building. You will not get lifts, wet-rooms or air conditioning in this hotel because of the historic importance of the building. In the UK we have planning restrictions which thankfully help preserve our historic buildings and prevent the heart and soul being ripped out of them. The hotel does have staff who can help carry your bags up the stairs if required and WiFi is available. Two electric fans were provided in the room and these were helpful. If you are arriving by car you will need to drive carefully up the two-way (!!) Mermaid Street (which is heavily cobbled and on a fairly steep hill) and turn left through the archway of the pub in order to access the car park. The car park can get quite full and you may find you are boxed in by the odd ‘late arrival†— but don’t panic if you are since the hotel manage this very well.
