Here at The Malthouse we recognise our children learn at an individual pace and that every one of our children is special and unique. We believe children should learn through open play and having fun. We also believe that by fostering independence we trust our children to succeed. Therefore our children relish the opportunities to explore and try new activities for themselves. In doing this they are provided with opportunities to think for themselves and to make their own decisions, and with staff always on hand to encourage, support and listen to the child’s needs we are able to question and offer alternative suggestions and choices, promoting independent thinking and learning. Our children benefit from individual time with staff as well as enjoying time within the group. We observe and monitor the progress of each child, recording their time with us in their individual learning journals. Our Learning Journal s are our way of sharing your child’s experiences and achievements with you. Through written and photographic evidence, these journals show your child’s progression by learning through play. At The Malthouse we acknowledge parents as the primary carers of their children and we value your input and guidance. We want parents to feel as valued at The Malthouse as their children and we aim to welcome and embrace the family unit as a whole. We therefore encourage feedback from our children’s parents, listening to your needs and the needs of your child. To that end we gladly welcome and encourage parents to join us within our nursery.
