Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment of problems of the musculoskeletal system, that is the bones, muscles and joints of our body. Osteopathic Treatment consists of work on muscles with soft tissue massage and joints with articulation techniques and manipulation. Osteopaths mainly use their hands to treat but we also give exercises and postural advice. Since 1993 after the passing of The Osteopath Act all osteopaths have to be registered with the General Osteopathic Council which regulates the profession and protects the patients. We also have to do 30 hours of continuing professional development annually.
