Stuart McKirdy went to medical school at St Andrews University, and Manchester University and qualified as a doctor in 1994. He commenced his basic surgical training in 1995 and qualified as a plastic surgeon in 2006 obtaining a fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery in Edinburgh (FRCS (Plast). This qualification confirms that he has had training and been successfully examined in all aspects of Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery. As a result he is on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register for plastic surgery and is employed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the NHS at the Royal Preston Hospital and Royal Lancaster Infirmary. He is also a member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
