The aim of counselling is to help you explore the cause or your emotional pain or the feeling of being ‘stuck’ and unable to move on with your life. No problem is too big or too small. You might find it difficult or embarrassing talking to friends or family about your problem but by talking to a trained professional you will be able to you look at your problems from a different, un-biased and balanced perspective. Counselling can provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings. The counsellor is there to support you and respect your views. They won't usually give advice, but will help you find your own insights into and understanding of your problems and strategies for moving forward. It can be a great relief to share your worries and fears with someone who acknowledges your feelings and is able to help you reach a positive solution.
