Dance School in Blackburn, Lancashire

Business Info

Sandersons

In 1976 Sanderson Dance Studios was established by the Principal, Jackie Sanderson and in its infancy, the business operated out of many venues in the Pendle area including the Conservative Club, the Railway Workers, St Georges Church Hall, St John’s Ambulance and Brierfield Town Hall. A lease for rooms above the Co-Op Supermarket, Brierfield was acquired and Sanderson Dance and Fitness Centre was launched. During the 15 years that followed, the studios were expanded to include the Royal Dance Club in Clayton le Moors and the Candy Club in Burnley. In addition a new Ballet and Tap Department was formed under the leadership of Lynne Mc Cheyne in 1988 and over the years as the popularity of the dance classes increased, Sanderson’s became one of the largest schools of dance in the UK. As the customer base increased, studio space was in great demand and as the expiry of the lease ensued, the current base at Nelson was acquired and in 1996 the business moved to the purpose built facility in Lomeshaye Industrial Estate. The need for more studio space was still evident and further centres were opened in Burnley (formally known as Bodyworks) and at Tony’s Ballroom in Blackburn. The business has since developed new studios and made improvements to existing centres and established our position in Nelson, Burnley and Blackburn. We are delighted to also have a small range of classes available in the Clitheroe area.
