Farmac Building Supplies opened it’s doors on 20th November 1972 with Kenneth Farrally and his business partner Reg McKay at it’s helm in a little yard on Smalewell Road in Pudsey. They had both worked together at C.P.Murray, a builders merchants based on Sovereign Street in Leeds. Ken ran the yard and Reg worked as a sales rep, but they decided to have a go for themselves. The company name is derived from their surnames, Farally & Mackay, FAR-MAC. The business grew and In April 1976 they moved to larger premises on Roker Lane in Pudsey. The building was an old Primitive Methodist Chapel originally opened in 1876. It was used as a fire station during the war and as a warehouse for Permenite Roof Felt before Ken and Reg moved in. Over the last 20 years Farmac has grown into the reputable, reliable, knowledgeable and well stocked merchant that it is today.
