Chiropractic is a science, art and philosophy which is concerned with the relationship between the nervous system and normal bodily functions i.e. health. Chiropractic is the most practised complementary therapy in the West with thousands of practitioners worldwide. Chiropractors consider the spine as the most important structure in the body and stress its role in protecting the nervous system. Chiropractors believe that spinal misalignment not only results in back pain but affects the entire body. Treatment focuses on joint manipulation/mobilisation which is commonly referred to within the profession as an "adjustment". Simply, Chiropractors treat everyone. There is no age limit, whether young or old, the human spine always needs care and attention just as our eyes and teeth do, perhaps more so since we can't replace our spine! The spine has many moving parts and moving parts can be prone to problems. The types of problems most commonly seen by Chiropractors are back pain, neck pain, cervicogenic headaches (neck related), shoulder and arm pain, leg pain, hip pain, trapped nerves and numerous other conditions such as those associated with minor sporting injuries.
