Richard Martin Gallery was established on Stoke Road in Gosport on England's south coast in 1980, just a few hundred metres from historic Portsmouth Harbour. The gallery specialises in original 18th, 19th and 20th century watercolours, etchings, engravings, maps and books - mostly on maritime subjects. Although the gallery was founded by Richard and his wife Elaine, they have subsequently welcomed two of their sons into this thriving family business. Richard is a leading specialist in the works of William Lionel Wyllie RA (1851-1931), for whom the gallery has a nationwide reputation, and also Gosport's own celebrated artist Martin Snape (1852-1930), both of whom he gives occasional lectures on. Elaine looks after the restoration side of the business and has restored and cleaned many hundreds of works for the gallery as well as numerous pictures for private clients and local museums. Daniel runs the framing workshop and, over many years, has framed countless pictures and all manner of three dimensional objects. Ben joined the team in 2007 having previously worked at an auction house as a book and print specialist.
