Ken Ratcliffe & Son Ltd was established in December 1978, when it bought an Ironmongers based in Stone Street, Llandovery, which had been present in the town since before 1895. Originally, the shop sold traditional ironmongery and hardware, with a small selection of homewares. Shortly after, we opened a small building and timber supplies yard in Victoria Crescent. In 1985, the business expanded with a new branch set up on the old goods yard on Station Road, Llanwrtyd Wells. The Llanwrtyd Wells branch combined both a shop and a building and timber supplies yard. In 2001, the building and timber supplies yard in Llandovery moved from Victoria Crescent into a bigger purpose built yard at Churchbank Industrial Estate, Llandovery. The new yard not only increased the space for building supplies but additional shop space and a dedicated bathroom and kitchen showroom.
