RD Jenkins was started out in 1976 by Roland Jenkins, a fully qualified tradesman. He served a four-year apprenticeship with A.E. Thomas and learned brickwork and roofing. It was an old-fashioned firm which meant you had to turn your hand to anything. Roland came out of Lewes College and was awarded the Silver Trowel by the Brickwork Development Association along with City & Guilds and Advanced City & Guild qualifications. The business started with a tiny van with R.D. Jenkins written on the side, a one-man business doing mostly brickwork. In 1990 Gareth joined the business and from then we started working on roofing repairs, guttering, paved drives, pointing and chimney maintenance. We aim to be reliable and friendly and have built a reputation for quality work. We don't believe in cutting corners so, for instance, if we're doing a shed base, we reinforce it with mesh, so that it will last longer.
