For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a passion for art and design and decided in my teens that I wanted to be a graphic designer. In 2001 I graduated with a 2:1 in BA (hons) Graphic Design from Blackpool and The Fylde College of Art and Design, then decided to travel Down Under. It was New Zealand where I began my design career. Using grit, determination and some British charm, I landed a position as a junior graphic designer at Auckland University. Following my return to the UK, I gained experience working at several agencies, both nationwide and local to Cumbria. Working with some big name clients such as British Gas and Morrisons Supermarket and more local businesses such as Furness Building Society and The Queen’s Arms, Biggar. I worked my way up to Senior Graphic Designer at a local agency before being made redundant — I figured I had gained enough experience to take the plunge and set up my own design company. So, in 2008 I launched Polska Design and am happy to say it’s one of the best decisions i’ve made.
