The company began as children's party food specialists, back in November 2006 – a business that Cathy Cliffe started from home. Following the success of the business, within a year Cathy’s Mum, Helen Butterworth, joined the company and they expanded into catering for business functions, weddings, funerals and celebrations. In August 2010 Peppercorn Catering launched their first retail outlet ‘Peppercorns’ with a Deli, Café and Cake Shop in Barrow Upon Soar, Leicestershire. In April 2011 Peppercorn Catering moved to new premises in Anstey, Leicestershire, where the second Deli Café was opened. At the end of October 2014 Helen decided it was time to ‘retire’! However she is still heavily involved in the business to this day. The business has continued to grow and as well as the cafés in Barrow upon Soar and Anstey, Peppercorns has taken over the Abbey Park Pavilion Café in Leicester. In 2016 Ella Louise, a bright red double decker bus café, joined the family and is currently residing at the Outwoods. The fleet was quickly followed increased to include Hugo the horsebox bar and Flossie the sweetie van – both available for private hire.
