I qualified in 2009 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture having trained at the prestigious College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) in Reading, Berkshire. CICM is one of the largest institutions in the UK offering training in acupuncture and is unique in teaching an integrated style, combining Traditional Chinese Medicine with Five Element Constitutional acupuncture. Being able to incorporate principles from several styles gives a great breadth of treatment options, which is ultimately in the best interests of patients. The nearly 4 year long degree course is validated by Kingston University and also included extensive study in Western medicine and nine months supervised clinical experience. Since graduating and building on from that, I have also been studying the Master Tung style of acupuncture for the last few years, broadening even further my range of treatment styles. I am Belgian and British dual nationality. I speak Flemish (mother tongue), French and fluent English, and have some knowledge of other languages. For my first degree, obtained at the Catholic University of Leuven, I gained a Master in Physical Education and Sports Sciences, involving extensive anatomy, physiology, neurology, pathology and psychology courses next to the educational degree aspects. I also studied 2 further years as a postgraduate, gaining diplomas in English, French and Journalism. After moving to the UK in 1991, I started working as the Deputy to the Flemish Commercial Attaché and retained this post for 15 years, when I decided to concentrate fully on being an acupuncturist.
