Michael's career was launched over thirty-five years ago at Selector Furnishings in Kemp Town, Brighton. Mastering key skills such as cutting and French polishing, Michael worked predominantly in the area of reproduction for the first five years of his work. Gaining experience and exposure to numerous techniques (such as stitching with horse hair), he progressed through a number of smaller workshops within Sussex during the first ten years of his learning, where he learned how to strip and recover antique, as well as modern, furniture. With a flexible, friendly and professional approach, Michael considers his fortes to be restoration of antique chairs (such as Chaise Longue, Victorian Spoon back, Chesterfield)and all button-work. Unlike some larger, commercial businesses, Michael is directly available and accountable at all times to his customers, priding himself on being an approachable and honest sole-trader. Whatever work he takes on, he ensures that it benefits from his bountiful experience and knowledge - all his skill and energy feeds in to every job taken, as past customers can happily verify.
