Scarborough is the place where I have my strongest memories from my life and where I am most comfortable in this world. At an early age, Scarborough inspired me to express myself through the arts. It was music and singing with the church choir at St Columba's, and it was dance at Mamie Benson’s Academy; however, it was with my granny where I discovered my life’s passion, sewing. We would spend hours creating dresses for my dolls — patiently mulling over every detail: the style, the fabric, but most importantly, the colours. My granny taught me that sewing was a way to connect with the community.
