Social therapy is a positive, relational psychotherapy with special focus on emotional development & group creativity. Dr Melania Canavan is a highly qualified mental health professional who recently moved to Dromore and opened a private practice at 82 Church Street Dromore BT251AA just a few minutes walk from where my Institute is located. Dr Canavan who also enrolled as an Aikido student with my Aikido Institute a few weeks ago told me Only by applying science while loving unconditionally can you be proud of your work as a therapist.†Both Aikido and Dr Canavan’s new therapeutic modality called Biocentric Psychonalysis†have in common something we often forget to practice in our modern world: love and kindness to each other, family and strangers. That is why last week I took part in an event organised by Dr Canavan to apply her behavioural science knowhow to therapy with a group of her clients selected through personality testing. The project included an introduction to Aikido practice which meant to both promote awareness of their emotions, mind/body synchronisation, movement and to help them connect in a socially stimulating environment.
