From window displays with dedicated sales areas at Harrods, Selfridges and Liberty’s to Paul Smith’s high profile opening of his Tokyo store, from the boutique designer salons of Manhattan and Chelsea to West End theatre designers and BBC costume dramas, all have benefitted from the specialist knowledge and unique sourcing capabilities of Mangan Antiques’ owners, Julie Mangan and Rudi Gargulio. For many years Mangan Antiques would supply only to the trade, and this has seen their specially sourced pieces sold to dealers and designers throughout the world. However, in 2008 they opened their doors to the public for the first time, enabling those outside the profession to benefit from Mangan’s unique range of antiques and unique designer pieces. This successful expansion has seen an unexpected sideline – wedding lists. “The bride and groom love it”, explains Julie. “They know they’ll be selecting items that nobody else has, it’s so very special to get something unique. We often find that couples will run two wedding lists, one at a department store for the things they’ll need, and one with us for the things they’ll love.”
