I have been working as a Painter & Decorator since I left school at the age of 16. I was offered and passed a three year apprenticeship recognised by the T.U.C with the local Authority, at the same time I also enrolled at Chelmsford College for Higher Education, where I passed a four year City & Guilds in both Basic Painting & Decorating and Advanced Craft Painting & Decorating. In 1986, I left my job with the local Authority to set up M.B. Decorating, so I could use my skills more effectively and see more varied work. In 1991, I was offered a part time teaching post at Chelmsford College for Higher Education, teaching practical Painting & Decorating to 1st and 2nd year students. Later on I was offered a full time post, but I decided to decline the offer because I did not want to become a full time teacher.
