Kirsty Stewart is a young Scottish jewellery designer maker; using traditional craftsmanship combined with contemporary design to produce her beautifully hand crafted jewellery collection. Birds, in particular there flight and feathers, inform her work. In some pieces she creates scenes and scenarios of flight, others are focused on the details, patterns and textures of feathers. She creates her work using traditional techniques such as forging, to manipulate the metal and achieve the desired textures and patterns. She combines precious metals with both precious and semi precious stones and beads to incorporate colour into her work. Kirsty graduated in June 2013 from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA (Hons) in Jewellery and Silversmithing. She then went on to set up her own business and in the summer of 2013 and was accepted onto the ‘Vanilla Ink’ programme 2013/14 in Dundee. Vanilla Ink provided Kirsty with an incubator space, business development days, a fully equipped studio and one to one mentoring as well as the support of her peers.
