Kilmarnock Removals International was founded in 1974 as a family business, and remains one to this day. Originally started by Bill Kerr, he built the business into one of Ayrshire’s most trusted removals companies for over 30 years. On his retirement in 2009 he sold the company to Matt Purdie & Sons, one of Scotland’s largest family-owned removals companies. Matt Purdie & Sons invested in the business, upgrading and expanding its storage facilities, vehicles and team. When it was de-merged from Matt Purdie & Sons in 2015, it was purchased by Matt Purdie himself who remains its owner to this day. A previous president of the British Association of Removers (BAR), Matt is one of the removals industry’s top names. He is the only Scot to be awarded honorary life membership of the BAR and currently chairs the Removers’ Benevolent Association (RBA).
