Kate trained as a Chartered Accountant with accountancy firm Deloitte and Touche (now Deloitte) in Manchester. During her 5 years with the firm she worked in the audit department, gaining experience with a wide range of different businesses. Following qualification, Kate moved to a blue chip company called Tetrapak (an international manufacturing company) as Finance Team Leader for Eastern Europe and Africa. This was a high pressured but enjoyable challenging position managing a team of mainly non-native English speaking accountants, purchase ledger and bank ledger clerks. This gave her the opportunity to use her fluency in French and German at work. After starting a family in 2005, Kate moved to a part time position at TaxAssist Accountants in Manchester with a view to extending her experience of small business and individual tax matters and their administration. TaxAssist is a franchise of accountants who specialise in accounting and taxation matters for small businesses. During her time at TaxAssist, Kate started to build up a small portfolio of her own clients, to the extent that by 2007 she was able to become fully self employed.
