Chartered Building Surveyors are concerned with how buildings are put together. This requires a detailed knowledge of both modern and historic building techniques and construction, together with an appreciation of the legal, procedural and constructional aspects of building. James Adair established JG Adair, Chartered Building Surveyor in 1999. After graduating in a Building Surveying degree in Glasgow he worked for an NHS Hospital Trust, in Dorset County Council, for a firm of building surveyors and latterly as a surveyor within a firm of engineers. His experience included work on hospitals, schools, infrastructure works as well as commercial and domestic buildings. It included design work, specification of works, insurance claims, maintenance schedules as well as surveys. He was admitted as an Associate (now Member) of the RICs in 1996
