As with many industries, the Germans are well ahead of the rest when it comes to rattan furniture materials. There are two brands of rattan fibre producers considered to materially exceed the performance of all others. Both are German (Rehauâ„¢ and Hularoâ„¢). Whilst the use of a German fibre in isolation does not define a premium product, it’s absence certainly indicates an inferior one. We also believe all weather contemporary rattan garden furniture should utilise a marine foam, which reticulates the water through the cushion rather than trying to create a barrier to it, which is an impossible task due to seam lines created in the sewing process. The most recognised all weather performance fabric is Sunbrellaâ„¢ from the United States. We also use Italian marine fabrics for many of our contemporary rattan garden furniture products, to accent our scatter cushions and ottomans. At iola, we encourage our customers to do plenty of research. When you do you will find a few vendors of rattan garden furniture who use some of these materials due to their innate quality. However, we go a step further. one of two companies globally who specify 316 marine grade stainless steel on their exposed furniture feet. Our rattan furniture gliders and other parts are from Moss in the UK. Our frames are expertly engineered using greater gauge (1.8mm) alloy with additional bracing and indoor sofa elastic for added comfort.
