Holly Derrick Swim School has been established in the Gloucestershire area for the last 10 years, starting at The Shrubberies School Stonehouse and now also at St.Roses School Stroud, both in warm hydrotherapy pools great for children and parents! The swim school provides structured, but fun, teaching by devoted ASA qualified swimming teachers. The lessons follow the nationally recognised ASA Award Scheme, which the children progress through and are assessed termly. Each class, which lasts 30 minutes is carefully balanced focusing each week on one of the four strokes, including group and individual work, submersion, floating, and games. The Swim School teach no more than ten children in the swimmers classes and eight in the non-swimmer classes, with the parent accompanying their child until they are 3yrs, or confidant enough to swim without their parent. It is not necessary for the person accompanying the child to be able to swim as the instructor is in the pool for each class. Children are allowed to join the lessons from 2.5 years old. The Swim School is dedicated to instilling good techniques into the next generation of swimmers. And believe that learning should be fun with safety paramount at all times. Understandably every child is unique and the best support is given to each pupil based on his or her own strengths and weaknesses.
