Once we’ve built relations with people we like to nurture them, this means providing support at every stage of development, plus adding value to your business. We don’t just provide figures and forecasts, at Hodgsons we offer forward thinking, commercial advice to realise your long-term goals. Hodgsons was founded in 1942 when tax rules changed and farmers were required to pay income tax based on their profits. Over the years the firm has established itself as a specialist in the agricultural sector but has also expanded into other areas of commerce. In addition to organic growth, the firm has made a number of acquisitions throughout its history. In 1976 Hodgsons acquired its first practice with the take-over of the Cornish end of Wood Albery, an established London firm. This move was significant in broadening the nature of business at Hodgsons into other specialist areas, including landed estates and professional firms. The most recent acquisition occurred in 2001 when Hodgsons took over Ward Ohly. As the largest firm in Falmouth and with clients of a similar size and nature, this provided Hodgsons with an additional strategic base to continue growth in the West Country. Since 2001 the firm has continued to expand and evolve. This expansion has been supported by staff development and experience within the firm, but also via recruitment.
