London Design Festival 2013 saw the launch of his eponymous furniture brand, with Heals stocking three of those launch products — all manufactured at the Henry Swanzy workshop in Falmouth. In 2015 two of these designs were awarded Design Guild Marks. As a designer Swanzy has experience from high-end bespoke, through to design for scaled production for brands such as Heals and Made.com. Combining this with a deep understanding of materials, years of hands-on making experience, a craftsman’s eye for perfection, and a zeal for efficiency of manufacture, are fundamental to his approach to design. Modelling and prototyping remain integral to his design process. Whilst embracing the inherent integrity of craft traditions, this is balanced with the experimental, producing designs of contemporary relevance and timeless elegance. Simplicity and functionality are paramount.
