For over six decades, Henry Burton has been serving Staffordshire’s cycling community; providing quality, custom-built cycles for a range of disciplines. Founded in 1950 by Henry Burton and his wife Joyce, who became national road race champion in the same year before going on to represent England in events in France, Henry Burton is a company built on a genuine love for cycling. Over the years the company flourished, with Henry indulging his passion for frame building which, until the early 1970s, was still carried out on-site at our Mill Street shop. Henry Burton remains a true family company - after leaving school in 1968 son, John Henry, worked alongside his parents until Henry passed away in 1978. John’s wife Julia joined the team and now their daughter Cheryl is very much involved in the general running of the business which has, in recent years, concentrated on custom built cycles; creating high quality cycles to meet customers’ individual needs. In addition to building on the Henry Burton reputation, John has also enjoyed an active competitive cycling career. He was midland champion 1973, 1974, 1978 and 1980 and, in more recent years, has concentrated on sportive events such as the Gran Fondo Camagnolo, Etape du Tour and the amateur stage of the Tour of Flanders. This unique combination of experience and expertise has helped us establish the reputation of which we are so proud; with John and Richard, who’s worked for the company for over 30 years, ensuring our work remains of the highest standard.
