After 20 years working in Industry as a technical manager,I became disenchanted with that way of life.Clocks and various other mechanical antiques had been a hobby for many years,so I opened Hansen Chard Antiques in 1984, hoping to turn a passion into a business. My intention was to buy and restore clocks for sale to the public, but it soon became clear that there was a need to add barometers to my catalogue, and offer a restoration service for customers own items, which were flooding into the shop in a never ending stream. The business prospered, but I deliberately kept the operation small and controllable, quality of life for me and mine and value for customers being paramount. My customer base expanded over the years, and although still mainly local,I have clients, both Trade and Private, National and International and from every walk of life.
