Glasgow Airport is located on the outskirts of Paisley, between Glasgow and Renfrew, ten miles from Glasgow City Centre, it can be accessed by road at junction 28 on the M8 motorway. Approximately ten million passengers arrive and depart each year. Glasgow City Centre is a short twenty minute taxi journey. However during rush hour periods this can be considerably longer. Glasgow Airport was built on the site of a former world war two naval base. Currently the airlines Jet2, easyJet, Thomas Cook Airlines, TUI Airways and Loganair all use the airport as a base and operate maintanance hangars. The Emirates airline also operate the Emirates Lounge, for passengers on Emirates Aribus A380 Glasgow to Dubai route, the Airport was specially adapted to accommodate the size of the aircraft.
