Landscape gardening for me is the combination of hard and soft landscaping, and maintaining that garden as it grows. Gardens should have form and structure - trees and plants and organic matter, alongside natural stone and gravels and synthetic textures. Gardens are also part of their surrounding landscape, nearly always around the home and therefore must serve the practical needs and requirement of that such space. The crossover between hard and soft landscaping is what will make your garden the exciting extension of your home, an outdoor room that you want to spend time in. I have been operating Fine Cut Gardening since 2008. Before then I spent some years working an apprentice landscape gardener in Edinburgh & East Lothian developing my skills and knowledge in horticulture as well and learning the techniques and standards used in many aspects of hard landscaping. I learned to use a digger and other plant machinery, got certified in Pesticide Application, and learned the skills involved paving and walling.
