Osteopathy is a safe system of manual medicine involving gentle manipulation of various body tissues (including joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, membranes and organs). We are highly trained primary healthcare professionals with in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology in health and disease. Osteopaths diagnose and treat the body as a whole, rather than only focusing on the problem area. At the Fern Osteopathic Practice we're interested in the structure of the body and how this affects function — from the way the muscles & bones are working, to how the internal organs are positioned and their freedom of movement. We are interested in the whole person — looking at the entire body for the source of local symptoms, whilst considering the possibility of emotional and social, as well as physical, causes to problems.
