Ellesmere Port A.S.C. was founded in July 1968, and by the time that the new indoor pool was opened in April 1969 we had received over 300 applications for membership. From these we selected twelve who already held ASA Survival awards and these young swimmers gave an exhibition of survival skills at the pool’s official opening. They swam in the presence of the Prime Minister (Harold Wilson) to whom they were later presented. Starting with just one, two-hour session each week we soon progressed to three and we now have four (totaling nine hours per week), we also have a further one hour session which runs on a Saturday morning for various periods throughout the year. We accept members from age 5 years and upwards, with no upper age limit. We have exclusive use of a six-lane, 33.3 metre training pool and a 6 x 10 metre teaching pool.
