Interior design is a very personal thing and projects are generally as individual in their execution as the the people requiring the service. Listed below is a brief run down of the various stages of the design process but this is by no means set in stone. Design can be from something as simple as finding the perfect wallpaper as a way to quickly refresh a room, all the way to completely re-designing your space. This is an opportunity to meet, chat about the space, discuss your aspirations and any initial design thoughts and ideas, functionality, your budget and timescales. The first stage in the process is purely conceptual. A design brief is drawn up setting out time scales, budgets and design considerations. On approval of the brief, a mood board is typically created which depicts the proposed look and feel of the scheme. The board will include visual references to colour, textures, patterns, lighting, flooring, furniture, accessories etc. Once the mood board is approved, work can begin on a final design. This involves collating ideas, sourcing products and working on plans and layouts for the space. Designs can be fairly basic or incredibly detailed depending on the space, client requirements and budget. At this stage, sample boards, computer mock ups and technical drawings can be created if required. Finally a schedule of works and a design specification can be generated and presented to the client.
