Osteopaths use their hands to manipulate and change the mobility and function of your bodies’ tissues to help ease your symptoms. For example, a recent client commenced treatment for his shin pain that turned out to be a loss of mobility in his ankle. Then the pain moved into his hamstring that came from his Glutei being under-active or inhibited. He cracked on with his bum strengthening and the pain in his hamstring eased as his Glutei took control of hip extension and lower back stabilization. The aim is to positively affect the body’s nervous, fascial, muscular, circulatory and lymphatic systems. Osteopathy considers the wider impact context of the patient including their medical history, medication interactions, diet, occupational and hobby stressors.
