We have many new and exciting things happening here that we are delighted to share with you. Firstly we have a large and important Ken Howard OBE RA painting in the gallery that has been in a private collection since 1987. ‘Marazion with St Michael’s Mount, Cornwall’ was painted for the exhibition of the National Trust Foundation for Art ‘The Long Perspective’ shown at Agnews in London in October 1987. Ken’s beloved Cornwall forms an important part of his output, the vibrancy of the windbreakers and dinghy sails set this work alight. It was also featured in Michael Spender’s book ‘The Paintings of Ken Howard’ published in 1992. The new work from Julian Rowe (another fine Cornish painter) is now in the gallery and has been very well received. From sun dappled blossoms, to the dramatic shadows of Mutton Cove to Swallows careening through early summer branches, they are a triumph. David Norman has also delivered some beautiful new watercolours of Paris, Sienna and Lecce which are well worth a look too. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
