After graduating from university, I spent several years working in a successful estate agency with offices in Frome, Trowbridge, Midsomer Norton and others. I was subsequently invited to join Friends Provident to undertake my financial adviser training, which I successfully completed. In 2001 I decided to specialise in providing mortgage advice, and joined a national high street IFA as an independent mortgage adviser. This gave me an initial grounding in providing mainstream purchase and remortgage advice as well as advising on buy to let advice. I also began advising on equity release mortgages at this time. After four years, I decided to move away from this company, and from 2005 worked with a smaller local IFA practice as their specialist mortgage adviser in Frome and Chippenham. This not only gave me more time to spend looking after my clients, but also enhanced the range of services I was able to offer, including commercial mortgages, bridging finance and more complex large loans. During this time, I went on to complete the Advanced Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice to help me achieve this goal.
