In 1994, Steven set up his own accountancy practice having researched the market and found that there was an opportunity to deal with SME’s and sole traders who were frequently given poor service and high fees from accountancy practices who were not really interested in them. In 1998, Steven embarked on a business venture with a client in the travel industry, Cruise Control (UK) Ltd, specialising in cruise holidays and in 7 years became the largest independant retailer of cruises in the UK, with a turnover of £120million and 280 staff. Steven also became a tutor for Essex County Council who ran courses for people wanting to set up in business, teaching the importance of profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and cash flow control to the running of a business. He also ran courses “Finance for non-financial people” on behalf of the Essex Adult Education Centre. For Steven, no job is too small. He believes in client satisfaction and is as willing to do a bank reconciliation as he is doing a set of accounts. Popular services requested cover bookkeeping, financial accounts, cash flow projections, VAT returns, self assessment and payroll. Additional services that would be considered are to assist in covering sickness and holidays.
